SupaJax Video Poker

SupaJax Video PokerSupaJax is an online progressive video poker machine. This is a standard video poker game such as Jacks or Better but it has one big difference: a progressive jackpot prize. This game was created by Microgaming, a major online casino software developer. As any video poker machine, SupaJax is an easy game to play but if you want to beat the machine and make some profit, the game must be played with an optimal video poker strategy. At the bottom of this page you'll find tips and tactics that will help you beat SupaJax.

Where to Play SupaJax Video Poker

sf??This is not the typical machine you find at your local casino or bar. The game was developed for online casinos of the Microgaming casino brand. To play this game you must download a Microgaming casino to your computer. Once you have the software, double click on the casino icon to open the games lobby. Then click on the Video Poker tab and look for SupaJax in the game list. Since this is a progressive video poker machine, the game can only be played with real money. Microgaming casinos allow fun play for their other video poker machines with the exception of SupaJax, since its progressive jackpot increases proportionally to how many real money wagers are placed for the SupaJax game within the Microgaming progressive jackpot network.

How to Play SupaJax Video Poker

The objective of the game is to create the strongest possible five card poker hand. SupaJax is played with a special 53-card deck. The extra card is called the SupaJax card; this card does not serve as a wild card. With the SupaJax card players can only complete the hand needed to win progressive jackpot prize. The game is played with one to five coin bets per hand. Microgaming casinos only offer SupaJax with $1 denomination, that makes the minimum bet per hand $1 and the maximum bet $5. After placing the coin bets, click on the Deal button to get your initial five cards. Hold the cards you like (if any) and click the Deal button again to receive new cards for the discarded cards. By now you'll have your final 5-card poker hand and will be paid according to the paytable shown below.

If you are new to video poker, this is the SupaJax poker hand rank:

  • SupaJax and 4 Jacks: this is a signature poker hand for this game consisting of the special SupaJax Card and a four-of-a-kind of Jacks
  • Royal Flush: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of any particular suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts or spades)
  • Straight Flush:  five cards in a row of the same suit
  • Four-of-a-kind: four cards of the same rank (four Jacks without a SupaJax will receive this payout)
  • Full House: three cards of the same rank and two of another rank, such as three 4's and two Queen's
  • Flush: five cards with the same suit
  • Straight: five cards in a row but with different suits
  • Three-of-a-kind: three cards of the same rank plus any two other cards
  • Two pairs: two cards of the same rank and two more of another rank plus one extra card
  • Jacks or Better: two Jacks or higher cards and three miscellaneous cards

Payouts are made according to this SupaJax paytable

sf??At the time this article was written the progressive jackpot prize was at $19,000. However, this jackpot is hit regularly and will be reset to $5,000 every time there is a winner. The highest SupaJax payout was made in 2003, when LeRoy P. hit the progressive jackpot at $95,251.44.

Remember the progressive SupaJax jackpot is only available for 5-coin bets.

Basic tips and optimal strategy for SupaJax Video Poker

sf??As with any other video poker machine, you must always hold a winning hand and only break it up in very rare occasions. In SupaJax Video Poker you should break a winning hand if:

  • You have 4 cards to a Royal Flush
  • You have 2 Jacks and the SupaJax Card
  • You have 3 Jacks

As the progressive jackpot increases over $50,000 you should risk more and it's is recommendable to break:

  • 4 cards to a flush if you have Jack and a SupaJax card
  • 4 cards to a straight flush if you have 2 Jacks
  • 2 pairs if you have 2 Jacks

Holding only a SupaJax Card without a Jack is not advisable. The odds of getting four Jacks on the new deal are infinitesimal.
