Double Pay Video Poker

Double Pay Video Poker

Double Pay is a video poker game developed by International Game Technology (IGT). It combines two poker games in one: stud and draw poker. The game gets its name because it features a double bet, one on the initial 5 card deal and the second on the draw. The game is normally found in multi-hand option, which allows players to bet simultaneously on 3, 5 or 10 hands.

sf??Double Pay Poker can be played in IGT's Game King, a multi-game machine. It should be noted that Double Pay is not a game in itself; it is simply a variation of the betting structure of a normal draw poker game. The double bet structure was applied to 4 pre-existing video poker games:

  • Double Bonus
  • Double Double Bonus
  • Triple Double Bonus
  • Deuces Wild

The player must choose which of these games to play with the Double Pay feature. Each game has its own paytable and different payback rates.

How to Play Double Pay Video Poker

This is not the easiest video poker game to play, it make take some time for the beginner to grasp the rules. If you are new to the game, you may follow our simple instructions for Double Pay Poker.

sf??The first thing you are going to see is a game menu with 12 options. There is one option for each of the four games (Double Bonus, Double Double Bonus, Triple Double Bonus and Deuces Wild) in each of the multi-hand versions: Triple Play, Five Play, Ten Play.

sf??So, before you begin, decide which of the four poker games you want to play. Then decide on how many hands you want to play at the same time for that game (3,5 or 10).

sf??If you are wondering what the difference between all four games is; here's how they differ. All the "double bonus" games have particular extra payouts for different types of four-of-a-kinds. Here's the paytable for each game:

Straight Flush 50

4 2-4's 80
4 5-K's 50

4 2s,3s,4s w/Ace,2,3,4 400

4 2-4's 80
4 5-K's 50
Full House 9
Flush 7
Straight 4
3 of a Kind 2
Two Pair 1
Jacks or Better 1

As you can see the Double Bonus only has 3 different types of four-of-a-kinds while Double Double Bonus and Triple Double Bonus have 5 different types. Since the latter two games have very high payouts for certain four-of-a-kinds, the payouts for lower ranking poker hands have been decreased.

sf??The last of the four games is Deuces Wild. This game differs from the rest because it has 4 wild cards. The 2's in the deck can stand in as any other rank and/or suit in order to help the player create the best possible poker hand. Since the 2's give a great advantage to the player the paytable begins only after a three-of-a-kind:

sf??Deuces Wild

Poker Hand 1 Coin
Royal Flush 250
4 Deuces 200
Wild Royal Flush 25
5 of a Kind 15
Straight Flush 9
4 of a Kind 4
Full House 4
Flush 3
Straight 2
3 of a Kind 1

So, now that you have seen the paytables pick the game with the payouts you like the most. Select if you want to play it in Triple Play, Five Play or Ten Play mode.

sf??If you pick Triple play you will see three sets of 5 cards. Select how many bets you want to wager per EACH hand. That would be a maximum of 30 bets on Triple Play because there are two features to bet on:

  • An initial bet on the five card deal (5 coin bets on each of the 3 hands 3D 15)
  • A second bet on the draw (5 coin bets on each of the 3 hands 3D 15)

We recommend new users to use the "Bet 6" button as it will bet only one credit for the deal round and one credit for the draw round on each hand. This is to avoid over-betting. Remember that if you are on a quarter machine and press the Bet Max button, you will be betting two quarters for each of the hands you have selected to play. On the Ten Play machine that would equal $25 on just one round of bets.

The first part of the game is very simple. The machine will deal 5 cards for each hand from a separate 52-card deck. If you chose one of the "bonus" games, you will receive a payout for each of the 5-card hands that have at least a pair of 5's. If you chose Deuces Wild, you must receive at least a pair of Queens in order to get a payout.

sf??Once the draw poker phase is over the player must choose from the main hand (located at the base of the monitor) which cards to be held. The cards kept in that hand will be transported to the other hands and held there too. By pressing the Deal button again a separate deck will deal new cards for each hand and a final draw poker hand is completed. You will receive a payout according to the Draw Paytables, as shown above.
